A Bright Day in Bosphorus-1

There are lots of people whom lived in İstanbul sometime in their life...Some of them my close friends too...

I am sure they missed İstanbul a lot...Specially the spring time...When redbud trees are smilling with bright face...

Here is a story of a day in the Bosphorus...In the Anatolian side...From Beylerbeyi to Kandilli by walking on 16th May 2011...

In Mythology Bosphorus

The Bosphorus derived its name from the Greek mythology. According to the myth; one day, Zeus seduced Io, a priestess of Hera. Zeus turned Io into a young cow as a disguise so he would hide her from Hera, his jealous wife. It was useless, and Hera was not misled, and sent a fly to torment Io. While running away from the the fly, Io plunge into the strait that separates Europe from Asia, and thereafter it was known as the Bosphorus, or the "ford of the cow".

In History Bosphorus

The famous historian, Herodotus first mentioned about the Bosphorus in his works. According to him, the Persian King, Darius assembled his ships to form a bridge in 512 BC, in order to transfer his army across the strait during his campaign against the Scythians. Throughout centuries Bosphorus played a very important role for many civilizations. It provided a passageway for the ships sailing from the Mediterranean and Aegean to the Black sea destinations and vice versa. It had an enormous contribution of the development of the the city of Byzas, namely Byzantion.

One of my friend said several years ago so that we have few ''real'' summers which we can give its full meaning to itself in our lifes...If average life expectancy is app 70 years for a person, we can say 10 years as very old days, than first 20 years like childhood&teenage ans schools...Than we only have app 40 summers...Not many when we think that way...So I have still ''cool'' 17 summers on my way as min...No way to waist them and willing to enjoy them as much as possible and make each one of them great ones!

So here is the summer starting in İstanbul ...One the great summer is on our way!
